The east side is greener, less visited and, for many people, the most beautiful part of the island. The day is built around Diamond Beach — a white-sand cove framed by limestone pinnacles — and its neighbour Atuh Beach, with viewpoints and a tree house stop along the way.
The roads on the east are winding, so we keep the itinerary relaxed with plenty of time at each stop.
A carved stone staircase leads down to a white-sand beach below sheer cliffs. Swimming is possible on calm days.
The neighbouring cove — sand, warungs, and a natural arch offshore. Good for a swim and a coconut.
A ridge walk above the sea with views over a string of small rocky islands. Best light in the morning.
The much-photographed tree house on the cliff edge; a quick stop for the view.
Rolling green hills in the middle of the island — a short stop on the drive back.
We pick you up from Toya Pakeh, Sampalan or Buyuk harbour, or from any hotel on Nusa Penida. Tours usually start between 08:00 and 09:30 — tell us your boat arrival time and we'll be waiting.
